Dr Umesh Prabhu became a Consultant Paediatrician (1992-2010), Clinical Director of Paediatrics (1992-1998), Medical Director of Bury NHS Trust (1998-2003), Board Member of UK National Patient Safety Agency (2001-2003), National Adviser to the National Clinical Assessment Service UK (2003-2015), Medical Director of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh FT (2010-2016). He got nominated twice as the top 50 most influential Indian leader of the NHS and in 2017 he received Lifetime Achievement Award for patient safety work.

Patient Safety

Heathcare

Dr. Aboul-Enein began his nursing career in Saudi Arabia working in primary care. He held several positions, including staff nurse on a renal transplant unit, nurse practitioner in triage services, senior instructor, hospital staff development and administrative supervisor, associate director responsible for highly successful overall performance and outcomes for multiple units, organization-wide programs, performed while working within academic community hospitals and organizations. In addition, he has taught at several universities at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels, both online and in the classroom. Dr. Aboul-Enein has published in numerous peer-reviewed publications including the Journal of Public Health and International Journal of Nursing Practice. He has published two books in the area of health care management and health care history. He has conducted many presentations, internationally and nationally. Dr. Aboul-Enein was a nurse practitioner reserve officer in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps reserve with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He has won numerous awards such as the Spirit of Nursing award from the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and the Best Nurses award in 2006 from the Texas Nurses Association. Dr. Aboul-Enein is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health. He is an experienced health care leader with expertise in innovative program development and health care strategy.

Nursing and Healthcare.

Alanna Maycock has taught refugee health both nationally and internationally. She is a Clinical Nurse Consultant in the refugee service at The Children’s Hospital Westmead, Sydney. Alanna is the only nurse to have ever spoken at the Australian Medical Association conference. She was also invited to the Women in the World Summit and spoke after Prime-Minister Justin Trudeau, Prime- Minister Nicola Sturgeon and before former US Secretary of State, Hilary Rodham Clinton. Alanna is attending St Andrews House, Scotland for further talks with Prime-Minister Nicola Sturgeon on offshore detention centre conditions. Alanna was Humanitarian of the year in 2016.

Nursing

Dr. Ryan K. Lee, MD, MBA, MRMD is Clinical Associate Professor at the Sydney Kimmel College at Thomas Jefferson University. He is the Section Chief of Neuroradiology in the Einstein Healthcare Network and serves as the Director of Quality and Magnetic Resonance Medical Director in the Department of Radiology. His areas of expertise include radiation management in imaging, radiology clinical decision support, and MRI Safety. He is known for his work not only in CT radiation dose reduction, but also in the reduction of variance in radiation dose. An authority on quality in radiology, he serves on several quality and safety committees in the Einstein Healthcare Network

Sujata is the CEO of Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment (CBLA), the Melbourne based organisation that manages the Occupational English Test (OET). OET is a healthcare specific English language assessment used by regulators, government agencies, educators and employers to assess the language skills of foreign-trained healthcare professionals. Sujata has led in the successful transformation and modernisation of OET since acquisition of majority ownership of the test by Cambridge English (department of University of Cambridge) in 2013.

Damien Byas is the President, North American Scientific Committee on Cardiovascular Health, USA as well as an Epidemiologist and Professor of Public Health, American Public Health Association, International Public Health Delegate, USA.

Cardiology, Cardiovascular Diseases, Epidemiology

Dr Matthias Muenzberg is a senior consultant in trauma surgery at one Germany’s largest trauma centres. As an emergency physician, he is also the head of medicine for the air rescue centre. He is an assistant professor of trauma surgery at the Univerity of Heidelberg. He teaches about managing severely injured patients pre-hospital and at the clinic, trauma education from personal experience and human factors. As an executive committee member of the German Society of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery (DGOU), Matthias was part of the task force to implement a “safety culture in medicine” and was responsible with developing the new course concept of IC (Interpersonel Competence). Dr. Muenzberg is the national director of the Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) programme as well as the director of several other international trauma programmes. Matthias has authored a number of highly regarded publications about the standardisation in trauma and burn care. Additionally, he is a frequent speaker at international conferences in the field of trauma, education and emergency medicine.

Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery

Maj Gen S M Motahar Hossain, Director General Medical Services, Bangladesh Armed Forces, has 34 years of experience in research, evaluation and teaching. He became Director General Medical Services on 18 August 2016. He has expertise in Internal Medicine especially in Gastroenterology. He held important appointments in his long career including Personal Physician to Honorable Prime Minister (2000 -2001), Personal Physician to Honorable President (2012-2016) of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh and Instructor of Medicine in Armed Forces Medical College, Bangladesh (2003-2004). He has number of publications in National and international Medical journals. He is a widely travelled person and visited more than fifty countries around the globe including USA, UK, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, China and Netherlands. He also participated in UN Peace Keeping Mission in Rwanda (UNAMIR) and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Nur Birgen is an expert of Clinical Forensic Medicine and dealing with medical malpractice claims since 1997. She has a long practice in the Council Of Forensic Medicine, Turkey. Since2010, she is working for the Acıbadem Healthcare Group as a consultant and dealing with patient claims and patient safety

Forensic Medicine

Dr. Subashnie Devkaran is a leader in quality, accreditation and patient experience in the Middle East Africa region and currently holds this position at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. She serves on various regulatory committees and leadership societies in the Middle East including President Elect of the American College of Healthcare Executives, MENA. Subashnie has a PhD from Edinburgh Business School (Scotland). With a Masters in Healthcare Management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, she also serves as an associate lecturer with the University. Subashnie received recognition as Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) from the Healthcare Quality Certification Board based in Washington D.C. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a Fellow of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare(FISQua).In addition to her full time role at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi she is also an International Consultant with Joint Commission International. Subashnie regularly speaks at international conferences and has published research papers on healthcare quality and patient safety. With a passion to reduce the knowledge gap in healthcare quality and patient safety internationally, Dr. Devkaran continues to pursue research in these areas.

She continues to serve on various regulatory committees and leadership societies in the Middle East.
